Concept / Rationale
In a world where financial news is designed to provoke reaction, this film explores a more disciplined way of seeing.
We Read Markets, Not Headlines is built around the difference between noise and signal. Headlines are immediate, emotional and often reductive. Markets are more complex. They require context, pattern recognition and a longer view.
The film contrasts fast-moving news cycles with quieter, more considered moments of analysis. Screens flash, stories change, sentiment swings, but beneath that surface movement, Citi is focused on what actually matters: underlying shifts, behaviours, data and long-term signals.
Rather than dramatising market volatility, the film reframes expertise as the ability to remain calm within it.
The ambition was to create a piece that feels intelligent, composed and visually precise, using contrast between surface-level noise and deeper interpretation to express the value of perspective.
The message is simple: anyone can read the headline. The difference is knowing what to read beyond it.
Process / Tools
The film was developed and produced using a combination of AI-driven image, motion and sound tools, with a particular focus on control, consistency and visual restraint.
Key visual worlds were first developed using Nano Banana Pro, allowing for precise control over composition, depth, lighting and the relationship between foreground information and background human behaviour. The visual language relied heavily on forced perspective, shallow focus and layered environments to create a sense of intelligence without becoming overly technological.
Motion was created using Runway Gen-4 / 4.5, with slow, controlled camera movement and restrained environmental action. Rather than relying on dramatic animation, the emphasis was on subtle shifts: screens updating, reflections moving, people passing through frame and market information evolving almost imperceptibly.
The edit was deliberately measured, creating tension through contrast rather than speed. Moments of visual noise were balanced against quieter frames to reinforce the distinction between reaction and interpretation.
Sound design followed the same principle. Minimal ambient textures and restrained musical elements were used to suggest movement beneath the surface without overwhelming the film.
As with the wider Citi Private Client series, the process was guided by precision and reduction. Every visual and sonic choice was designed to support one idea: real expertise is not about reacting faster to the noise, but seeing more clearly through it.
